Use used soft brush,an used tooth brush is a good way to handle, soaked the watch case (please remove movement first) in warm water with some hand soap for 30 minutes and wait for the dirt to dissolve. But if your watch is a plated one, it will be another story. Sometimes I used WD-40 to remove rust as well.
