trainz simulator 2010- engineersedition是trainz系列鐵路類比遊戲中即將發售的最新版本。根據官方網站的內容來看，這款遊戲原定于2009年11月29日發售數位下載版；于2009年12月發佈盒裝版。在這之前接受全球玩家的預定。trainz系列遊戲的一個重要特點是降低了創造性的門檻，所有玩家同時也可以輕易兼任世界創造者的角色。使用遊戲提供的工具輕易創造自己夢想的鐵路景觀。製作外掛程式、鋪設線路、佈置風景不再是少數擁有大量專業知識的人的權利，trainz系列真正地把發揮創造力的樂趣完美地融入遊戲中。如果說trainz是一個遊戲，它倒更像是一個工具軟體，或者說一個遊戲引擎，你能在裡面完成的成就是沒有極限的。你可以鋪設一段有趣的線路；你也可以複現現實中已經逝去蒸汽時代，你也可以鋪上長達幾百公里完全取材于真實景觀的鐵路系統，這完全是你的自由。

speedtree®
在ts2010中，一個飛躍性的改變就是引入了speedtree®系統。什麼是speedtree?從字面看來就是“快速樹”的意思。高品質和更豐富細節的樹木被引入ts2010中，用它們來使你的世界變得生機勃勃！從官方發佈的videodemo來看，speedtree是一種由程式生成的植物系統，其涵蓋範圍似乎不只是樹木那麼簡單。你再也不用為樹木外掛程式過於單調而犯愁了，這些樹木會在指定的位置隨機生成，並隨環境而改變外形。出色的細節和智慧性可以把你的鐵路風景變得千姿百態。

訓練任務
不確定從哪裡開始體驗ts2010? 全新的訓練任務指導你如何駕駛。這些任務主要指導以下一些方面：

  * dcc control - dcc模式控制（trainz中一種控制列車的簡單模式，類似于火車模型中的dcc數碼控制，靠一個撥輪來控制火車的前進方向和速度）
  * industries - 工業建築的使用（操作列車在各種工業建築中裝卸貨物）

自訂功能表系統
trainz曾經擁有一套完善而友好的使用者介面。隨著易用性的不斷改進，在ts2010中，允許線路製作者為他們的線路和任務製作特別的功能表選項。（喜歡做線路和任務的朋友們可以有更多選擇了）

更新的線路
新的線路已經採用了更新後的外掛程式和speedtree系統。專門開發的“當地語系化”模式，使你體驗史上最好的trainz。我不太理解後半句，專門開發的“native”模式是什麼意思？是一種全新的駕駛模式還是別的什麼東西？

季節性資源的支援
從ts2010開始，將啟動對季節效果的支援，外掛程式的外觀將隨著季節而轉變。看來我以後的工作量將更大，除了製作常規的貼圖外，可能還需要製作一些特定季節下的效果——比如天寒地凍中的內燃機車……

相容所有ts2009外掛程式
ts2010可以完善地相容所有支援ts2009的外掛程式。

場景編輯模式下支援“層”技術
“層”技術對於很多圖形軟體的使用者來說一定不會陌生，層主要用於在製作複雜圖形時可以輕易地將繁雜的元素分別處置。簡單來說，層就是把你希望歸類到一起的元素捆綁為一個集合，並隨時可以分開，相互之間可以互不影響。現在ts2010竟然也加入了層技術，來看看在這裡我們能用層技術做什麼：

  * 將各個物品分配于不同的層（據我的推斷，可能是可以輕易地調整各層中的物品而不會影響其他層中物品了）
  * 隱藏和鎖定層（這樣你就不會對一些無需修改的層誤操作了）
  * 在任務和線路間移動層，使你可以在任務中增加任何物品——不僅僅是火車。想在一個任務中增加一個新樣式的建築嗎？或者一段新的軌道？層工具將是這些都變成現實。

根據我使用圖形軟體的經驗來推斷，ts2010中的層技術主要用於佈置場景線路和任務，使玩家可以將一個場景中龐雜的物品分類歸納，便於處理。具體的操作模式只有等ts2010面市後才能瞭解。
